2016 MINI Cooper Clubman Vs. The Subaru Crosstrek
Drivers looking for a versatile, sporty wagon have a lot of options these days, with the 2016 MINI Cooper Clubman and the Subaru Crosstrek coming to mind easily. The Clubman takes the inimitable style of MINI and pairs it with seating for five, resulting in a comfortable, capable vehicle for families and friends looking for adventure. It’s a popular choice among our customers here at Bill Jacobs MINI.
Both vehicles provide copious cargo space, with the Crosstrek offering access to the trunk through a standard upward-opening rear lid. The Clubman offers added versatility thanks to the signature Split Rear Doors. As an added bonus, the Split Rear Doors are motion-activated, opening with a quick movement of your foot.
To keep road-warriors safe, Subaru has included a total of seven airbags in the Crosstrek. MINI has also put a premium on safety as evidenced by the eight dual-stage airbags included in the Clubman. The Clubman model’s airbag system monitors impact severity and adjusts inflation rates accordingly to provide gentle cushioning with as much force as needed. In extreme cases, the airbags stay inflated longer to shield drivers from shattered glass.
Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) on the Crosstrek and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) on the Clubman both work to keep drivers on the straight and narrow. The MINI DSC system measures the steering angle, yaw, and lateral acceleration through the use of sensors in order to determine the driver’s intended direction. If your Clubman starts to stray from its path, the DSC system activates, applying corrective brake pressure to individual wheels and adjusting engine torque as necessary.
While both vehicles check off plenty of boxes for adventurous drivers on the go, we’re partial to the style and refinement of the MINI Cooper Clubman. Head over to our dealership near Aurora, IL to take one for a test drive. And be sure to ask about the 2016 Cooper S Countryman All4, another capable, spacious MINI model.
